To continue from the last article in this category I decided to get into explaining how blogs can make money from affiliates through organic SEO. For mom blogs this should be one of the easiest ways to make money. One affiliate networks that comes to mind is linkshare.com.

Linkshare was launched in 1996 and is one of the largest affiliate networks on the Internet. This networks connects affiliates (bloggers) with Advertisers. Advertisers most of the time provide the affiliates with links and banners to place on their site. When visitors click the link and purchase from the advertisers the affiliate receives a commission from the total cost of the sale or a set fee for each sale. This network is not only for Advertisers that sell products, you can get commissions from leads as well.

Now you may be thinking that you are better off with Google’s AdSense and just get paid for the clicks! Yes, you may be better off with that but how much money can a mom blog make from clicks? NOT MUCH. Google AdSense provides links that are contextually relevant to the content on your page, but what if there is no interest from your readers in the links that google served? This means no clicks for you and no money from google. And now I will explain how your blog can make money though some simple on page SEO.

For mom blogs the affiliate approach should be a piece of cake. You selected the products that you want to market on your site, you downloaded the banners for these products and placed them on your site. Now it’s as simple as incorporating your product into your articles or posts.

For example you selected an affiliate that sells toys and games. This affiliate pays you 12% commission on any items purchased by visitors who are referred from your site. So when you write an article about your kid’s toys why not include a link to this affiliate or a banner into your post. Now as people read your post their mind will be set on kids toys – about 20% will click on the link and about 10% of that 20 will actually buy something. An average total for this affiliate is $60 which means your cut is (12%) $7.20. Not much but how many clicks will it take to get that much money from google?
