SEARCH & SOCIAL MARKETING

Offer Quality Content and Services

One of the most important factors to consider, above everything else described in our SEO Learning Guides, is to offer compelling and useful content. With the use of good content, visitors will not only be more likely to visit your page, they’ll also recommend your page to other people too. People can do this through many different methods including blog posts, social media services, emails, forums, etc. If your content is good enough, it can spread like wildfire. Such organic or word of mouth buzz is the key to building your site’s reputation not only with potential customers, but with search engines as well.

Tips on Developing Quality Content

Write Text That is Easy to Read
  • Make your content well written and easy to follow
  • If and when appropriate use humor
DON’T
  • Have a lot of grammatical errors in your writing
  • Embed text images in place of text content. This makes it difficult for site visitors to copy and paste the text and it doesn’t allow search engines to index it.
Keep Your Writing Focused and Organized
  • Organize your writing so people can tell where a topic starts and ends.
  • Break up your content into sections so people can easily find what they’re looking for.
DON’T
  • Put large chunks of text about all different topics on a page without paragraph breaks, subheadings, or separation in layout.
Use Fitting Language
  • Use words that visitors might use to find your content with a search engine
  • Anticipate differences in search behavior and use a good mix of keyword phrases to accommodate for these differences. For example, someone might search for desserts while another person might be looking for sweets.
  • Utilize Google ad words tools and webmaster tools to better understand how users get to your site and what words are most relevant.
DON’T
  • Go overboard using keywords. If the content you provide does not make sense to a reader they aren’t going to come back or suggest your site to other people.
Create new and exciting content
  • Offer new and exiting content as it not only keeps visitors coming back, it also brings in new visitors.
DON’T
  • Repeat content using different words since it adds no value to visitors.
  • Have the same content in several locations on your site.
Provide Unique Content and Services
  • Offer something no other site offers. Find your competitive edge. Provide breaking news or original research, something other sites might not have the resources to provide. This will draw visitors to your site in droves.
Make content for users, not search engines
  • Offer content that is helpful to users
  • Use keywords optimally
DON’T
  • Use keywords that aren’t applicable to the content. This makes the content confusing to readers.
  • Jam pack your content with keywords causing readers to be confused.
  • Have a lot of grammatical errors / misspellings.
  • Hide text from users but have it visible to search engines.
Generating Quality Back Links is a headache for every webmaster, in our practice we have found that good content does generate organic back-links. Back-links help your website rank for relevant keywords and give your website authority.
